About the Department:

Labour Welfare Department is a regulatory department and has been enforcing various labour related Acts & Rules for the larger interest of the workers. There are various acts like Building & Other Construction Workers Act, 1996, Unorganized Workers Social Security Act, 2008, Child and Adolescent (P&R) Act, 1986, Workmens Compensation Act etc. which are  implemented by the Labour Welfare Department field officers. Labour Welfare officers are entrusted with the responsibility of liasioning with workers to maintain harmonious relations in the plant or industry, resolve any dispute to establish a healthy relation between employer and employee etc. There is Commissionrate with one Additional Labour Commissioner and three Deputy Labour Commissioner to monitor the works of all districts.

Functions:

As head of an office Labour Officer is responsible to implement and enforce all the provisions of various Labour Laws within his jurisdiction.
Important Schemes Under Implementation:
The department have no such scheme. There is a Building & Other Construction Workers Act where the registered constructionworkers are given various benefits. The aim of Labour Welfare programme include various services, facilities and amenitiesprovided to workers for improving their health, efficiency, economic betterment and to enhance their social status.
